Lotus Excel

Back in 1982 the Excel was revealed to the public, and collaborating with Toyota the Excel aimed to be an all-rounder performer.

The unit we have here is chassis no.1664, and was once displayed proudly at the 1984 British Motor Show.

This is perhaps one of our more labour-intensive projects in recent years, as the panels were made of fibreglass and would warp over time.

One of our goals was to match the carpet colours to the fabric and vinyl, while the headliner was restored with suede material.

Finally, we replicated the original design that was used on the seats and door stitching.

The Excel sits amongst its peers as one of Lotus' most unique models and we are glad to restore this unit to its former glory.
